Help A Brother Out: Bicentennial Proof
First things first. I am at zero knowledge for numismatics.
I do like coins though and go for pm's. I am looking through a magazine and see an offer for 3 bicentennial coin silver proofs (quarter, half, dollar) for $19.00. I languish in the fact that the greatest silver coin of all time, never was, the Ike dollar. 40% doesn't do much for me. But a proof 1/2 silver Ike would be the best I can do. Anyway, I check out an 09 redbook from the library (great reading btw, even if you don't plan on buying a thing), and they have lists for proof sets and I go down to 1976(p.331). They do list a 3 coin set but doesn't specify silver. I am not sure what I would order would be a set, or what constitutes a set. Can someone clue me in on this. Is the 'set' I would order a good deal. They have a limit of two but that may be a part of the come on. |

The 1976 (3) coin proof set in 40% silver has Coin Dealer Newsletter wholesale price of $12.75.
You can buy any quantity of these from local dealers at $12 to $13 per set, and they will kiss you for taking them off of their hands. |

It maybe better to call your local dealer first. |
